I. Background and Rationale
The African Development Bank (AfDB) is the premier multi-lateral development finance institution in Africa, dedicated to fostering economic growth and social progress. The AfDB’s primary goal is to reduce poverty and improve living standards by mobilizing resources in and outside Africa and providing financial and technical assistance for development projects and programs in Africa.
The Vice Presidency for ‘Private Sector Infrastructure and Industrialization’ (PIVP) focuses on the Bank’s High 5s priority of “Industrialize Africa”. The Infrastructure, Cities and Urban Development Directorate (PICU) is tasked with advancing infrastructure and urban development, including transport and logistics. The Transport & Logistics Division specifically supports Regional Member Countries in the development and financing of various infrastructure, including airports and aviation.
This Consultant is crucial for strengthening the Bank’s expertise in the aviation and air transport sector, enabling it to provide enhanced support and policy dialogue for the development of Africa’s economic and social infrastructure.
