The Bank launched the Alliance for Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones at the Africa Investment Forum (AIF) in Marrakesh, Morocco in November 2023 to accelerate the development of Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones in Africa. The Alliance is a financing platform, that seeks to accelerate Africa's private-sector-led agro-industrial investments to stimulate structural transformation in agriculture by connecting rural and urban development. Proposed by the AfDB, the Alliance seeks to mobilize suitable financing and investment from various partners including development organizations, donors, investors, financial institutions, which include Alliance members as well as external partners.
The assignment seeks to engage an Individual Consultant as a Private Sector Specialist to identify, structure, and promote bankable private-sector-led SAPZ projects under the Alliance. The Consultant will support project origination, structuring, private sector engagement, mobilizing co-financing and investment to support the acceleration of SAPZ development across Africa. The Consultant is required to support the promotion of selected projects and enhance private sector participation, through mobilizing anchor developers/operators and anchor tenants, through supporting relevant task managers and project implementation units. Overall, the consultant will support the implementation of the Alliance’s mandate and the development of financing facilities to support SAPZ project preparation and development.
