of a potential marine conversation project in Senegal.
Introduction/Background
In July 2021 United Purpose (UP), in consortium with Nebeday and Réseau Régional
d’Aires Marines
Protégés en Afrique de l’Ouest (RAMPAO) submitted a concept note
Community
-
based MPAs for
socio-economic resilience (the project) to Blue Action Fund in response to a call for proposals focusing on advancing marine conservation and supporting sustainable livelihoods on Africa’s
Atlantic Coast. The concept note was accepted by Blue Action Fund and the consortium was invited
to embark on the full proposal development process. This involves an extensive Environmental and
Social Assessment and Risk Management process. The requirements (deliverables, methodology and
stakeholders) for the Environmental and Social Assessment and Risk Management process have
already been identified by the consortium and validated by Blue Action Fund. Based on this,
we are recruiting a consultant to conduct an Environmental and Social Assessment to look closely at pre
-identified risks associated with the potential implementation of this project.
Information on the project
The full concept note for the project will be
made available to the successful candidate.
Intervention zones: 16 CMPAs across Senegal. Primarily we will be working in 12 CMPAs in the Sine
Saloum and Casamance.
Duration: 4 years
Financial scope: 4 million EUR.
